advocacy.

Speaking the unspeakable and writing the unwritable is my passion. Shame dies in the light.

Advocacy keeps me going. Being able to help others with my experience makes spending most of my life sick not so tragic.

speaking.

I spoke and performed stand-up at the 2017 Annual Meeting of the Clinical TMS Society in San Diego, California.

I was a guest speaker for Buzzfeed’s short documentary “I’m Bipolar, But I’m Not…” which has gotten over 2.5 million views.

writing.

I’m the co-author of the blog Recovering from Mental Illness at HealthyPlace and have written for WebMD, WEGO Health and Adanna Literary Journal. I was nominated for three WEGO Health Awards in 2020.

A piece I wrote was included in Chapter 4 of Politiken’s “200 Words” – a global collaboration about our shared experience living in the world during the pandemic.

I wrote “The Importance of Strong Toes” and “Dueling Dual Diagnosis” for the International Bipolar Foundation.

“Understanding Relapse” was about relapse in response to the death of Whitney Houston and two of my good friends for the North Hollywood Patch.

I was invited to write a guest post “Why Me: Disease VS. Recovery” about reframing the victim/disease mentality for WEGO Health.

Criminal Lawyer invited me to write part 2 of a 4-part series featuring the unique stories of persons in recovery, “Living in Sobriety.”
